Tchibo DE Review: What the German Retailer Offers and How It Compares with Alternatives

Tchibo DE at a Glance

Tchibo DE is the German storefront of Tchibo, found at tchibo.de. Most people associate the name with coffee, and coffee is prominent on the homepage. But the same page puts it alongside a wide spread of other categories. The top-level list covers furniture and home, sleep, coffee, underwear, sport, kids and mobile phone plans. Themed ranges rotate through the page, so what you see will change from week to week.

This guide is built from the merchant's own public pages: the homepage, a newsletter sign-up page, a page about branch and supermarket offers, and two product listings. It is not a hands-on review. We have not ordered, tested or used any of the products, and we have not assessed customer review scores. Where this guide mentions a feature, price or promise, it is Tchibo's own statement, and you should confirm it on the live site.

One practical point for English-speaking readers: the site and its product details are in German. The sections below translate the key terms and flag what to check.

What Tchibo DE Sells

Show the breadth of Tchibo DE's range, from coffee to non-food themed categories, so readers can judge category fit

The homepage groups its range under "Unsere Kategorien". The listed categories include home and furniture (Wohnen & Möbel), mobile and internet (Mobilfunk & Internet), kids (Kinder), sport, furniture (Möbel), sleep (Schlafen), coffee (Kaffee) and underwear (Wäsche). The newsletter page adds a set of top categories that includes women's sportswear, kitchen and dining, jackets, bed linen, bedroom furniture, nightwear, children's clothing and teenage clothing.

Beyond the fixed categories, the homepage rotates seasonal themed collections. At the time of capture these included an outdoor and hiking collection, loungewear and nightwear, autumn fashion, kitchen helpers and decoration in autumn designs, and a collection around bread baking. A mobile data offer and a mattress sale with a discount code were also promoted.

Coffee remains a visible part of the offer. The homepage showed 10 percent off coffee bulk packs, pad machines at a promotional price of 59 euros, weekly coffee offers and coffee advent calendars. If you are weighing up a pad machine, treat the promotional price as a starting point and compare the machine's running costs and capsule or pad availability separately.

All of these offers and collections are time-limited. The homepage is a snapshot, and some of what is described here may already have changed by the time you read it.

Where Tchibo DE Stands Out

The strengths below are ones Tchibo publishes itself, so they are the merchant's statements rather than our findings.

Free shipping and returns. The site banner advertises free shipping from 29 euros and free return shipments. Check the full return terms on the merchant's pages before relying on this for a large or unusual purchase.

Welcome voucher. Newsletter sign-up is advertised with a 10 percent welcome voucher on many items. The voucher carries a footnote, which indicates conditions apply, so read them before you count on the saving.

Loyalty scheme. The TchiboCard scheme lets members collect "TreueBohnen" (loyalty points). The newsletter page says 200 TreueBohnen are given on registration. It also mentions earlier access to themed collections and member prices.

Online and in-person options. Tchibo lists three ways to combine online and branch shopping: Click and Collect (order on the site or app and have it delivered to a branch), store reservation (reserve an item from the branch range and collect it there) and a store availability check. The same page covers offers in branches and in supermarkets.

Clear price display. The two product pages reviewed here show prices as including VAT and shipping, which makes the headline price easier to read.

Give a concrete example of how Tchibo DE presents price, specifications and delivery details on a product page

Two product listings show how Tchibo DE presents price, specifications and delivery. We are describing what the pages say, not how the products perform.

Oakland chest of drawers

The "Oakland" chest of drawers (2 doors, 1 drawer, graphite-silver grey) was listed at 299.99 euros including VAT and shipping. Stated dimensions are about 83 x 42 x 102 cm and the weight is about 45 kg. The page describes a chipboard and glass construction, soft-close doors and drawers, metal edge handles and a scratch-resistant coating. It carries a "Made in Germany" label. It also gives load limits: 10 kg for each drawer and shelf, 15 kg for the lower base and 30 kg for the upper shelf.

The chest ships disassembled in two packages by freight delivery to the room of your choice, and the page says island delivery is not possible. Assembly instructions are included. The estimated delivery window shown was 21 to 23 October 2026.

Tambu HAIKA 3 tent

The Tambu "HAIKA 3" three-person dome tent (order number 220942) was listed at 99.99 euros including VAT and shipping. The page describes a double-wall design with a 2,000 mm water column, a porch for extra storage, fibreglass poles and recycled polyester fabric. It states a weight of about 4.4 kg and says the tent can be pitched in about 10 to 15 minutes. The merchant describes it as suited to campsites, hiking and festivals. These are Tchibo's own claims, and we have not tested them.

The tent ships as one parcel by postal service, again with no island delivery. The estimated delivery window shown was 19 to 21 October 2026.

Both windows are date ranges that vary by item and date, so check the live page for the current estimate.

Delivery, Stores and Returns

Delivery methods differ by item. In the examples above, the chest of drawers uses freight delivery in two packages to the room of your choice, while the tent travels as a single postal parcel to the house. If you are ordering bulky furniture, expect a different delivery experience from ordering a parcel-sized item.

Both example pages state that island delivery is not possible. The pages we reviewed do not describe delivery outside Germany, so if you live elsewhere, check the live site and its help pages before you build a basket.

Tchibo's shopping options also include collecting in person. Click and Collect lets you order online or in the app and have the items delivered to a branch. Store reservation lets you reserve items from the branch range and pick them up there. A separate availability check shows whether an item is in stock at a given store.

The site advertises free return shipments. As with any retailer, read the full return conditions, including any exceptions for bulky goods, before ordering. The delivery estimates on product pages are date ranges, not guarantees.

Limitations and Things to Check

Language. The site and product details are in German. Specifications, care instructions and warnings are in German, so you may need a translation tool to follow them.

Time-limited promotions. The 10 percent coffee bulk-pack deal, the Flash SALE (advertised at up to 70 percent off for a short time) and discount codes such as the mattress code shown on the homepage are all conditional and temporary. Verify any promotion on the live site.

Delivery exclusions. Island delivery is excluded for both example products.

Assembly. The chest of drawers arrives disassembled and has to be built following the included instructions. Allow time and, with a unit of about 45 kg, probably a second pair of hands.

Merchant-written claims. The product pages used here are written by the merchant. Statements about scratch resistance, durability, water resistance or quick pitching are the merchant's own and are not independently verified. The tent's page also gives care restrictions, including hand cleaning only, no machine washing, and keeping it away from open flame.

Evidence limits. This guide has not tested products and does not assess customer review scores. Both product pages have a customer review section, and reading it is a sensible step before you buy.

Tchibo DE Versus Practical Alternatives

Tchibo DE's mix of coffee, rotating non-food ranges and a branch and supermarket presence is different from a single-category specialist. That can suit shoppers who want to pick up a coffee, a pair of loungewear sets and a tent from one place. It matters less if you need a deep range in one area.

If you want a specialist outdoor or furniture range, it is worth comparing dedicated retailers. Whichever you compare, use the same criteria:

  • Total price, including shipping and VAT.
  • Delivery restrictions, such as island exclusions or freight delivery for bulky items.
  • Return terms, including who pays and what is excluded.
  • Assembly requirements for furniture.
  • Language support, if you are not comfortable ordering in German.

For any named alternative, rely on that retailer's own published terms rather than on assumptions. This guide makes no claims about other retailers' prices, quality or policies.

How to Save and Decide

A short checklist before you order:

  1. Consider the welcome voucher. Newsletter sign-up is advertised with a 10 percent welcome voucher, subject to conditions. Check which items are included and whether it can be combined with other offers.
  2. Mind the shipping threshold. Free shipping applies from 29 euros according to the site. For a small order, adding a needed item may be cheaper than paying for shipping on its own.
  3. Look at TchiboCard. Registration is advertised with 200 TreueBohnen and other member benefits. Decide whether that is worth an extra account.
  4. Check the delivery details. Look at the delivery date range, island-delivery exclusions and assembly needs before checkout.
  5. Verify promotions. Confirm any time-limited deal or discount code on the live site before relying on it.
  6. Compare. Set the total price, delivery terms and return terms against at least one other retailer if the purchase is significant.
